How To Use Branch Basics Oxygen Boost [Complete Guide]

Branch Basics Oxygen Boost is one of our best-sellers for good reason!

This simple product contains just two natural mineral ingredients and acts as a laundry booster, stain remover, bleach alternative, scouring agent, and more.

From laundry to bathroom, pots and pans to carpet stains, Oxygen Boost is a product no health and toxin-conscious home should be without.

Here, we share over 15 ways to use Oxygen Boost around the house, plus helpful user tips and FAQs for best results.

H2: What Is Branch Basics Oxygen Boost?

Branch Basics Oxygen Boost is a laundry booster, stain remover, bleach alternative, and scouring agent made with two biodegradable minerals:

1. Sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, is a natural substance with bleaching, deodorizing, scouring, fabric softening, and stain and dirt removal properties.

2. Sodium percarbonate, also known as oxygen bleach or powdered peroxide, is a natural whitening agent that brightens clothes and, when activated by water, lifts away stains, dirt, germs, and grime.

This versatile product can be used directly on surfaces, clothing, and fabrics or dissolved water to activate its sanitizing* and stain-lifting properties.

*As discussed in The Power Of Sodium Percarbonate For Cleaning, sodium percarbonate works as a human-safe and biodegradable disinfectant but only when activated by warm or hot water.

Oxygen Boost also works beautifully when combined with Branch Basics All-Purpose, Bathroom, and Laundry dilutions to boost their cleaning power.

Branch Basics’ Starter Kits contain everything you need to toss the toxins by replacing synthetic chemical cleaners and laundry products with non-toxic alternatives.

Just add water + designated amount of Concentrate to the fill line, shake, use Oxygen Boost as needed, and that’s it.

You can also order Oxygen Boost as a stand alone product or refill.

For more information on how Branch Basics non-toxic cleaning system works, see: How To Get Started With Your Branch Basics Kit.

H2: How To Use Branch Basics Oxygen Boost For Laundry, Stains, Scouring, And More

Oxygen Boost is a foundational human-safe, eco-friendly, and versatile cleaning product to add to your low-tox lifestyle.

Here are more than 15 ways to use it around the home.

1. As A Laundry Booster

Oxygen Boost is best known for its laundry-boosting prowess and can be added to the wash with Branch Basics Laundry or your favorite natural laundry detergent.

To use:

  1. Add 1 scoop Branch Basics Oxygen Boost to your washer along with Branch Basics Laundry, Branch Basics Laundry Detergent, or your favorite natural laundry soap to boost detergent’s effectiveness, remove stains, brighten clothes, soften clothing, deodorize, and as a bleach alternative.
  2. Run the load as usual.

2. For Stains On Clothing

If you’ve been disappointed by other natural or low-tox stain removers, Oxygen Boost will be your new go-to laundry stain remover.

It can be used directly on stains with Branch Basics All-Purpose or Laundry or as a soaking agent (test for color-fastness first).

How To Use:

Pre-treat or pre-soak stains with Concentrate and Oxygen Boost before washing for extra stain removal power.

  1. To pre-treat, sprinkle Oxygen Boost directly on the stain and spray All-Purpose to saturate the powder.
  2. Agitate until soapy and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before washing. *Oxygen Boost can lighten colored fabric if it dries or sits for too long.
  3. To pre-soak, add 1-2 teaspoons of Concentrate and ½-1 scoop Oxygen Boost to a sink or tub filled with enough water to cover the item(s).
  4. Soak a few hours or longer until clean.
  5. Then wash!

For White Fabrics

  • Oxygen Boost can be used directly on white fabrics or as a soak with 1 scoop per basin, bowl, or sinkful of water.
  • It can sit a few hours or overnight directly on white fabrics, then launder as usual.
  • Be sure to test to see how fabric responds, as even white fabrics can be lightened a few shades in some cases.

For Colored Fabrics

  • We recommend soaking colored fabrics in a solution of Oxygen Boost plus water, 1 scoop per basin, bowl, or sink full of water for 30 minutes to several hours.
  • Check every so often to avoid over-bleaching (although this isn’t typically a problem, even with colored fabrics).
  • Do not let Oxygen Boost sit on top of colored fabrics, as it will lighten the color.
  • Oxygen Boost works on nearly any type of stain, including grass stains, food stains, oil stains, tomato sauce, red wine, spit-up, blowouts, and more.
  • See Branch Basics Stainmaster Guide for specific tips on how to remove nearly every type of stain using Branch Basics.

How to use:

  2. Wet the Oxygen Boost with more Bathroom spray.
  3. Note, if using on shower tiles, spray the tile grout first with Bathroom or All-Purpose, then spray a grout brush or old toothbrush with water or these solutions, sprinkle Oxygen Boost on the brush and apply directly.
  4. Scrub with a brush and then let sit at least 5 minutes.
  5. Rinse or wipe off with a cloth to remove mold.
  6. Finish by spraying straight 3% hydrogen peroxide on the grout lines (you can add a spray bottle cap directly to your hydrogen peroxide bottle to make this easy), and let dry.

H2: Oxygen Boost FAQs

Switching to new laundry, stain removal, and cleaning products can bring up a lot of questions, especially if you’re new to the low-tox cleaning game.

Here, we answer some Oxygen Boost FAQs.

Q: What is Oxygen Boost Made From?

A: Branch Basics Oxygen Boost is an EWG-verified, Made Safe certified, biodegradable product made from two natural minerals:

  • Sodium bicarbonate (aka: baking soda)
  • Sodium percarbonate (aka: powdered peroxide or bleach)

Learn more in: How Branch Basics Is A Healthy And Sustainable Cleaning Line.

Q: Is Oxygen Boost safe?

A: Oxygen Boost is a safe powder if used as directed.

It is EWG verified, which is their highest rating. However, since it is a powder, it is important that pouring or using the powder is done in a way that avoids inhaling it. All powders are considered potential respiratory irritants.

Also, we recommend that you use gloves if you will be scrubbing or will be in contact with the wetted powder for a period of time.

Q: Is Oxygen Boost safe for baby clothes?

A: Yes! Parents often rave to us about the wonders of Oxygen Boost for removing common stains on baby clothing, such as spit-up, baby food, and blow-outs.

Follow the directions for soaking or direct use, and be sure to launder with a human-safe laundry detergent made for sensitive skin, like Branch Basics Laundry or Branch Basics Laundry Detergent.

Note: We do recommend keeping Oxygen Boost out of reach of babies and small children as they should not inhale, ingest, or get it in their eyes or on their delicate skin.
