Branch Basics Oxygen Boost
We at Branch Basics HQ are very excited to offer a new, 100% mineral Oxygen Boost that’s safe and effective for brightening laundry, removing stains, and cleaning grout! Although there are other mineral powders on the market, they often include added fragrance and synthetic ingredients. We wanted to offer a safe alternative that partners well with Branch Basics soap to meet your cleaning needs. At Branch Basics, we don’t take any product decisions lightly and we don’t cut corners, which is why we’re proud to offer this natural, American-made Oxygen Boost that will be a welcome addition to your nontoxic cleaning routine. If you were looking for a good reason to remove that bottle of bleach from your laundry room or have noticed that your “white” sheets have been looking a little “off-white” lately, we think you’ll really like Branch Basics Oxygen Boost!
Branch Basics Oxygen Boost is a 100% mineral powder (sodium percarbonate and sodium bicarbonate blend) that whitens and brightens fabrics and removes stains and odors from laundry. Oxygen Boost isn’t just for laundry, though! It is also a great whitening agent and can be paired with All-Purpose or Bathroom spray any time you need a bleaching action for your grout. The formula is a blend of natural minerals, which keeps you and your family safe from fragrances, binding agents, and solvents. Oxygen Boost will not contaminate waterways and is and safe to use with septic systems. Because Oxygen Boost is naturally alkaline, the sodium percarbonate and sodium bicarbonate minerals actually balance or “soften” hard water (containing an excess of calcium and magnesium).
Branch Basics Oxygen Boost does not contain any of the following, which are commonly added to scrubbing, brightening, and whitening products:
- NO bleach
- NO ammonia
- NO aluminum
- NO dyes
- NO fragrances
- NO phosphates
Common Sense Precaution: This is the one product that Branch Basics offers that we can’t say meets our “human safe” standard. That is not to say it isn’t pure, natural, and safe – but there is a inhalation hazard with any powdered product. Thus, use caution, particularly around small children and pets so that they don’t breathe particulates into their lungs.
Branch Basics Oxygen Boost Ingredients
Oxygen Boost contains pure trona, which is mined from an ore deposit in Green River, Wyoming. Trona is a naturally occurring chemical known as sodium sesquicarbonate (Na3H(CO3)22H2O), which is a double salt blend of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and sodium percarbonate. Sodium percarbonate is made of sodium carbonate (soda ash) and hydrogen peroxide. Similar to baking soda, sodium percarbonate is a white, granular mineral often used in cleaning products. It is entirely environmentally-friendly, but also powerful as a whitening and stain-removing agent. As it breaks down, sodium percarbonate turns into simple byproducts: water, oxygen, and soda ash.
History of the Green River Basin – The Ingredient Source
We source our trona from a deposit at the Green River Basin, which has been an active mine since the 1930s, is large enough to meet the entire world’s needs for soda ash and sodium bicarbonate for thousands of years. Fifty million years ago, the land surrounding Green River in Wyoming was covered by a 600-square-mile lake: Lake Gosiute. As the lake slowly evaporated, it left behind a 200-billion-ton deposit of pure trona between layers of sandstone and shale. The underground trona mine is about 1,600 feet below ground – imagine taking an elevator down 170 stories to reach the trona deposit! Not only is the deposit deep below the surface, but it’s also vast. The mine itself has 2,500 miles of tunnels – compare that to 3,200 miles of interstate highways in the entire state of Texas.

STAIN TREATMENT WITH BRANCH BASICS OXYGEN BOOST
Always test Branch Basics Oxygen Boost and Branch Basics All-Purpose on an inconspicuous area of fabric first to make sure there are no water marks and the fabric is not lightened more than the surrounding fabric. After applying the stain treatment, rinse the stain and allow to dry. Observe fabric. If unable to test, then soak fabric in water 5 minutes after applying the stain removal treatment. Typically this eliminates any problems associated with stain pretreatment, which are often the result of mineral rings if you have hard water. Proceed at your own risk if it is a favorite garment and you are unable to test.
BASIC STAIN TREATMENT METHODS
Remove as much of the excess stain as possible. Mix Branch Basics Oxygen Boost with enough Branch Basics All-Purpose to fully dissolve powder and make a paste or solution and apply to stain, completely saturating the area. Let sit for 5 – 10 minutes or more and gently agitate the stain until it disappears. Do not allow to dry on the fabric before washing.
You may prefer to skip the paste-making step to save time. This can be done if you sprinkle Branch Basics Oxygen Boost on the stain, then wet powder thoroughly with with Branch Basics All-Purpose, then proceed as described above.
TREATMENT OF TOUGH, DRIED-IN STAINS
- Mix Branch Basics Oxygen Boost with Branch Basics All-Purpose until the powder is completely dissolved and forms a thin paste.
- Spot treat the stain and allow to sit 5 – 10 minutes.
- Fill a basin or tub with enough water to cover the garment and dissolve 1 T. Oxygen Boost in it. Submerge the garment (or at least the stained portion). Soak for 1 to 6 hours or even overnight. Use warm water if garment instructions permit.
- Add stained item to your laundry load and wash as usual.
Using Branch Basics Oxygen Boost for Surface Cleaning
Oxygen Boost is a great brightening agent. You can use it anywhere you need whitening or brightening power in the bathroom, kitchen, or other places throughout your home. First, clean the surface by sweeping or vacuuming to remove dust or dirt. Wipe clean with Bathroom or All-Purpose spray and a rag.
BRIGHTENING & WHITENING
For brightening and whitening, particularly on tile and grout, mix Branch Basics Oxygen Boost with enough Branch Basics Bathroom cleaner to fully dissolve powder and make a paste or solution. Apply this to the area you would like to clean and let sit for 5 – 10 minutes or more. Use a sponge or brush to scrub the area. Repeat with more of the Oxygen Boost solution if necessary. Spray with All-Purpose or Bathroom spray bottle and wipe with a clean rag until the solution is fully removed. This may require rinsing your sponge or rag with fresh water several times until no residue remains.
We do not recommend Branch Basics Oxygen Boost for the following uses:
- Wool, wool blends, silk, silk blends, leather or on fabrics labeled “dry clean only”.
- Upholstered furniture – unless careful testing is done.
- Jewelry, latex paints, woven baskets, unpainted wicker, jute, teak, or finished woods.
