Allison’s Non-Toxic Skincare And Beauty Routine
By Allison Evans |
As a trending topic in our world today, we get asked about our skincare and makeup routines often.
When it comes to living a non-toxic lifestyle, one of the most important things we need to consider are the products put on our skin.
Our skin is the largest organ in our body and studies show that 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our bloodstreams, ultimately affecting our health.
Unfortunately, conventional products did not put health top of mind and are loaded with toxic ingredients like fragrances, dyes, sulfates, parabens and phthalates that cause issues like irritation, redness, burning and flaking.
By committing to clean, non-toxic skincare and beauty products, you’re putting natural ingredients into your body that aid in your overall health - and your skin will be calmer and happier.
As for good news... clean skincare and beauty is more available now than ever!
In the past few years, plenty of brands have been reassessing their ingredients to make them non-toxic and clean, and many new brands have surfaced.
While I don’t always have time to do my full skincare and makeup routine every day with kiddos running around, hopping on work calls and juggling everyday life - I do try to do it as often as possible and keep it quick and simple.
It makes me feel good, it gives me a few minutes of “me time” and it’s relaxing. It truly is self-care!
Below, I’m taking you through my current routines.
No-Fuss Morning Skincare Routine
Step 1: I spray a few spritzes of Primally Pure Everything Spray on an organic cotton round and wipe my whole face and neck. This gives me a little wake-up refresh right away and works as a toner for the rest of my skin and makeup products to come.
Step 2: I’m currently loving KEYS Rx Moisturizer with Sunscreen. This provides me with protection to the Texas sun and is a great moisturizer.
That’s it for morning skincare - keeping it simple!
Everyday Makeup Routine
Step 1: For makeup, I start with Ilia’s True Skin Serum Foundation. It’s a great lightweight formula (I like my skin to be able to breathe) to even your skin tone.
Step 2: If I want a little more glowy or shimmy look, I use the RMS Buriti Bronzer. If I’m looking for a matte bronzer that day, I use the Ilia NightLite Bronzing Powder.
Step 3: To set my brows, I use the W3LL People Expressionist Brow Gel
Step 4: I finish off my makeup with the Ilia Limitless Las Mascara.
Effective Evening Skincare Routine
Step 1: To start, I wash my face with either Primally Pure’s Cleansing Oil or the Primally Pure Baby Bar. I switch this up every other night so I can reap the benefits of both products.
Step 2: Next, I use the Primally Pure Everything Spray again (same one as my morning skincare) on an organic cotton round around my face and neck.
Step 3: To combat breakouts and keep my skin looking bright, I use OSEA’s Blemish Balm and let it fully absorb into my skin.
Step 4: Then, I use Indie Lee’s Active Oil Free Moisturizer for a healthy dose of hydration that will last all night.
Step 5: To finish my evening routine, I use the DIME Eyelash Boost Serum.
My Thoughts On Products
That’s it!
While I hope my routine is helpful to you, keep in mind everyone’s skin is different, based on a variety of factors.
Oily versus dry skin, the climate you live in and your unique skin sensitivities are all factors you should take into account when selecting products.
Products will work differently on each of us and what works wonders for me may not do the same for you, and vice versa.
I’ve been suggested so many products over the years, and it can get a bit overwhelming!
If you’re investing in high-quality products, make sure to read the reviews to be sure it works with your skin type and what you wish to accomplish, and always vet products on EWG's Skin Deep database.

Healthy Skin Starts From Within
I’ll leave you with this - I do truly believe that healthy skin starts from within.
Our skin is incredibly reactive to our environment and what food we put in our body.
My skin drastically improved when I started eating whole, organic foods and tossing toxins from my everyday environment.
If your skin is acting up, typically it’s a way of letting you know something is off on the inside.
