There has never been a better time to create a healthy home with our #TossTheToxins program!

Understanding what impacts our health and boosts immune function is vital. Many are buying “non-toxic” products for their family’s health and wellbeing, yet they still may have hundreds of products in their house that have harmful ingredients. Research shows that products that pollute the air weaken our immune system making us more vulnerable to infection and chronic illness. These products create a low-level chemical soup that your family has to detoxify from 24/7, never allowing time to recover, rest and rejuvenate from the everyday exposures we all get out in the world.

Unfortunately, most of us are in the dark and without a clue about how harmful common household products are. Not realizing that the products under your sink, in your pantry, or in your cabinets may be causing your headaches, your weight gain, your husband’s sinus infections, brain fog, your children’s irritability, inability to concentrate, or asthma5, makes you subject to something that could easily be eliminated.

Identifying and knowing how to distinguish between what is and what is not safe enables us to make everyday choices that heal, restore, and nourish us. We just don’t know how much these products affect us until they are removed!

How Do You Create a Healthy Home?

Years ago, when my son was chemically injured, the doctors said, “He will never recover—go home and create a 'safe room' for your son. Remove everything toxic and replace them with safe materials and products.” I decided that we would not just create one room for him to stay in but make our entire house safe! What I didn’t realize was that creating a healthy home wasn’t a clearly defined concept, and it still isn’t.

I had a huge "Aha!" moment while grocery shopping as to why our son kept reacting to our home. As I walked past the pesticide and cleaning aisle, I stopped in my tracks and gasped, “That’s IT!” The bottles were not only closed but sealed, yet I could smell the VOCs (volatile organic compounds) coming out of the bottles. This was happening in our house too, even though we weren't using them! The decision to completely remove all harmful products was life-changing. It turned out to be the key to our son’s restoration as well as the foundation for #TossTheToxins!

After news of my son’s recovery spread, I started working with others from all over the country who had been unable to recover from chemical injuries, mold exposures, or chronic illness. I realized we are all living in a low-level chemical soup in our homes. Regardless of their condition, I found that having my clients just get a box and go through their homes removing products with toxic ingredients brought about dramatic improvements in air quality and rapid turnarounds even in cases. Lindsey’s story is a perfect example.

It became apparent that the fastest results occurred when products with VOCs (volatile organic compounds) were removed first. I've developed a simple, no-cost process that removed these harmful products category by category. Many have been dumbfounded as persistent symptoms and conditions were resolved after removal.

That is the story of how Toss the Toxins began. You can get started today and make an immediate improvement in your home’s air quality. This stress-free process can be completed in days, weeks, or as you are able. Once a category is completed - you are done!

Since the removal of a category is solely designed to improve air quality, this no-stress system allows you to keep removed products handy in a sealed box until you have replacements you can keep in your house. If you need a product, use it, but return to your sealed container when finished to keep the air quality clean. To simplify, we recommend that products stored in the home have all ingredients rated a 1-2 on EWG Skin Deep.

Remember, this is not only an opportunity; it is a finite process. Once completed, your commitment to buy safe products will pay off. Know we’re behind you 100%... you’ve got this!

Category #2: Cleaning and Laundry Products

Toxic Cleaning Products

Start at your kitchen sink and remove all chemical cleaning products with zero ingredients listed and any labeled with “warning,” “danger,” or “hazardous”. Remember, “non-toxic” on the label is not enough! When in doubt, throw it out and replace with Branch Basics or other safe products with all ingredients rated a 1 or 2 on EWG Skin Deep.

These include laundry detergents, fabric softeners, bleach (which is also an EPA-registered pesticide), stain removers, dryer sheets, and “boosters.”

Category #3: Fragranced Products

These include air fresheners, scented candles, and anything else that contains synthetic fragrance. How do you know if it’s synthetic? It’s labeled “fragrance”; the only exception is 100% wildcrafted or pure organic essential oils - and note that even essential oils can be irritating to some.

Category #4: Personal Care Products

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, and it absorbs what it comes in contact with. Personal care products should contain clean ingredients, as they ultimately make their way into your body, bloodstream and lymphatic system.

Dig in further:

Category #5: Plastics, PFAS and more

The most concerning are plastics you eat or drink from as they are a source of BPA, BPS, BPB, and phthalates. Think water bottles, baby bottles, storage containers, kitchen utensils, cutting boards, etc.

PFAS (Perfluorinated Substances)

These chemicals are found in stain-resistant, water-repellent, and non-stick products such as rugs, clothing, bedding, outdoor gear, cookware, etc.

Flame Retardants

These chemicals are found in children’s pajamas and robes and are also found in blankets, upholstered furniture, rugs, window coverings, drapes, and mattresses, etc. After source removal HEPA vacuuming is the best way to reduce your exposure

Found in particle board furniture, “easy care” or “wrinkle-free” clothing and bedding, nail polish, personal care products, glues, etc. Learn more in: 23 Sources of Formaldehyde to Remove From Your Home Starting Right Now.

Category #6: Food

We encourage you to toss processed foods with harmful chemicals that can be found in your pantry and refrigerator.
