Branch Basics Hack #1: Air Freshener Spray Recipe

Branch Basics Hack 1 Air Freshener Spray Recipe Tutorial DIY

Branch Basics Air Freshener: A Simple Recipe

  1. Fill a spray bottle with 1/8 t. Branch Basics soap and water (the same recipe as our streak-free formula).
  2. Add a 1/2 dropper of food-grade scent oil.* Shake and test. You may need to add more scent if you don’t notice much smell.
  3. Shake well and spray into the air for a fresh, safe smell!

This bottle should store well, though the oil may separate if you haven’t used it in a while. Make sure to shake well each time you use!

*If you are safely using essential oils in your home without an issue, you may prefer to add essential oils to your blend instead.

How does soap work as an air freshener?

Our special soap formula can actually improve your air quality as you spray and freshen! Indoor air is usually swimming with toxins from pesticides to endocrine disruptors. Branch Basics soap helps pull toxins from the air and surfaces with each spray, while leaving behind a light, temporary fragrance that is safe to sniff! Combine it with a food-grade scent oil, and you have a totally human safe, non-toxic air freshener spray!

Because the soap will be so well diluted with water, you don’t have to worry about it leaving behind a sticky residue. The scent will linger as the spray dries on most surfaces, or even on your skin!

What’s the best way to use an air freshener spray?

We suggest replacing your synthetic air freshening methods (like candles, sprays, and plug-ins) with natural ones that will not irritate your immune system or give you headaches. This formula will be safe to spray lightly on surfaces and mist straight into the air. Happy cleaning!

    1. Hi Jo,
We recommend using our 24 oz (formerly 32 oz) spray bottles. We now sell a dedicated Streak Free bottle, which has measurement instructions for this use on the side of the bottle. You can use your own bottles with the same ratio.
