Kelly and I spent the past week in California, first visiting a sweet family friend at their BEAUTIFUL Carmel home (complete with a fabulous garden, amazing views, fresh air and ADORABLE children!) and then headed to Santa Clara for Weston A. Price Foundation’s 2012 Wise Traditions Conference. This was our second year to attend and sell Branch Basics in this conference. For those of you unfamiliar with this foundation, here’s a little bit about their mission:
The Weston A. Price Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price’s research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats.
The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community-supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting and nurturing therapies. Specific goals include establishment of universal access to clean, certified raw milk and a ban on the use of soy formula for infants.
Kinda awesome. Needless to say, Marilee, Kelly and I were in heaven surrounded by amazing, healthy-fat-filled food and knowledgeable people who’ve turned their passion for healthy living into companies doing amazing things for this movement. We set up a booth and talked and talked and talked…and talked…about our most favorite topic: safe cleaning! Branch Basics was a huge hit and we saw many returning customers who were coming back to stock up on more product.
Here’s a few pictures of the weekend, starting with a little video of the Yee’s home in Carmel. It was designed by Lake|Flato Architects and featured in Dwell Magazine. Click on the image to watch!
Then to the conference…we loved getting to finally meet (in person!) sweet Molly Chester from Apricot Lane Farms. One of our most favorite Branch Basics users!
And, what a small world it is…one of Marilee’s long-time clients, Noelle, happen to stop by our booth and recognized Marilee by her name tag. They’ve worked together for years over the phone, Noelle in CA and Marilee in TX. Finally united with lots of hugs, smiles and a few tears! 🙂
